FAST SEAL amber transparent 10 + 5 kg
Fast Seal fast-curing resin for wood impregnation before flooding with Crystalres, Viwood or Aquares resin. Fast seal resin is used in the manufacture of wood-plastic composites. The wood is coated with fast-curing Fast Seal resin before pouring to prevent air bubbles from escaping the wood. It is also used for rapid flooding of knots and cracks in wood (up to a depth of 1 cm).
Mixing ratio: 100 : 50 by weight
Viscosity: medium
Pot life: 8 - 10 minutes
Gel time (100 g at 20°C): 30 min for thicker layers
2 hours for thinner layers
Maximum thickness (at 20°C): 10 mm
COMPARISON OF OUR RESINS FOR WOOD-PLASTIC COMPOSITES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR COLORING AND USING RESINS

All our resins (except VACUSEAL) can be colored with:
1. KOLORO EPO pastes (excellent UV stability, opaque or transparent color, easy mixing)
2. KOLORO liquid colorants (lower UV stability, suitable for indoor spaces, excellent transparency)
3. VIVAT pigments in powder (excellent UV stability, opaque or transparent color)
(VIVAT natural earths or VIVAT inorganic oxide pigments or VIVAT organic pigments)
4. EFFECT pigments in powder (pigments for special effects in resin)
FLIP FLOP pigments (different colors under different viewing angles)
GLITT glitter (our glitter series)
MAGNETIK pigments (magnetic pigments)
METALIK pigments (metal powder for a metallic look)
NEON fluorescent pigments (fluoresce in daylight, very bright colors)
PERLA pigments (pearl-matte effect pigments, endless color combination possibilities with VIVAT pigments and KOLORO liquid colorants)
SIRIUS luminescent pigments (absorb light during the day and glow at night)
UV-LUX pigments (pigments glow under UV light)
LUSKOVIT (colored mica flakes)
ART SAND (colored sands)
TERMO MAG pigments (change color with temperature)
General guidelines for working with epoxy resins:
When working with pourable masses, it is very important to:
- weigh component A and component B
- use an accurate scale
- wear protective equipment (gloves, etc.)
- use mixing cups and sticks
- observe open time and curing time for the mass
POURING GUIDELINES:
The resin is very fluid and self-leveling, so it must be limited or placed in a mold. It adheres very well to wood, rock, concrete,... therefore we use silicone molds or coat the mold surface with a mold release.
Observe the recommended maximum thickness for the specific resin (the exact thickness depends on resin type, ambient air temperature (higher temperature means you can cast thinner layers at a time), humidity, shape of the product, ...)
COLORING THE RESIN:
The amount of pigment/colorant depends on the desired color intensity and product thickness (thicker layer requires less pigment/colorant).
Coloring resin with VIVAT pigments or KOLORO EPO pastes:
For transparent colors add 0.05 to 0.5% pigment by weight of mass
For opaque colors add 2 - 5% pigment by weight of mass
Pigment should always be dispersed into component A, as this gives enough time to disperse the pigment (note that pigment weight is not included in the A to B mixing ratio).
MIXING GUIDELINES:
The mass should be used at temperatures of 15°C and above.
Weigh the chosen amount of component A into the mixing cup, add the correct amount of component B and mix well (when mixing, be careful not to incorporate too much air).
Pour the mixed mass into another cup, scrape the walls of the first cup, and mix again. Mixing in two steps prevents curing due to poorly mixed mass. Tap the cup gently on a surface to release air bubbles.
The pot life (time available for mixing and pouring) and curing time depend on the mass type and ambient temperature.
LATE PROCESSING:
When the mass is fully cured, it can be ground and polished. Grinding achieves uniform height with wood; polishing restores the high gloss of the resin that is lost during grinding.
EXAMPLE:
We want to pour 150 g of VIWOOD resin in black color.
- Weigh 100 g of component A, add 4 g of VIVAT black oxide pigment, mix well
- add 50 g of component B (at room temperature we have approx. 20 min working time), mix well
- pour the mass into another cup, mix again well
- gently tap the cup on a surface to release air
- pour into prepared mold or board, wait 24 hours for curing
- grind the surface first with rougher sandpaper, then with fine wet sanding paper
- fill the surface with polishing paste
